Tasty and useful: about how to lose weight correctly when cooking with a WEBER grill

This is a review by a person who has been running his own blog since 2004 and is otherwise known as ŽYTAN. The translation was made from Russian, so please forgive any inaccuracies in the translation 

When there is nothing to say, I write... or rather, not me, but my own experience when it comes to health, correct and, most importantly, tasty food and how to lose weight correctly by cooking with a WEBER grill. After all, there is nothing really difficult in the fact that there is no such thing as cooking. All you need is a combination of three essential elements:

  • desire
  • quality products
  • suitable appliances, such as the Weber Performer Deluxe GBS grill.

So why this grill? There are many reasons, from the convenience of use to the fact that the food actually turns out really tasty and healthy. And even a person who used to make only instant coffee and scrambled eggs for breakfast in his life can cope with its preparation.

When they brought me the barbecue, it looked like this:

Everything is very neatly packed.

However, only 20 minutes have passed and the barbecue is already fully assembled.

The Weber grill is simple enough, although it is actually a real outdoor kitchen.

The structure itself is made of durable materials, and the lid and body of the grill are made of light steel coated with porcelain enamel at a temperature of 900 degrees. In this way, an extremely strong adhesion is created, and the surface itself is protected from scratching, flaking and dirt accumulation.

For comparison: traditional grills are coated with powder paint at 350 degrees, and when grilling temperatures often reach 300-350 degrees, the powder paint starts to flake and peel within two years. Covers and casings of Weber grills are covered by a 10-year warranty.

By the way, there is already one Chinese analogue gathering dust near my house, which turned into a pile of garbage within a year, so I am very happy with the Weber grill.

My Weber has a very convenient One Touch cleaning system. These are special petal-shaped leaves made of aluminum installed at the bottom of the grill body, which push the excess ash into the container below with a light movement of the hand. Later, the full container can be easily removed and the ashes thrown away.

The Weber Performer allows you to cook for a large company of people at the same time, because the diameter of the main cooking surface is more than half a meter (57cm).

The grill has a lid, so you can cook both directly and indirectly (this method is often used for cooking large pieces of meat, chicken). But I will tell you about that later. Now I tried to cook steaks from marbled beef. And I succeeded!

Another useful feature is the lid handle with heat protection, which allows you to easily remove the lid, place it in a special holder for easy flipping of the roast.

The barbecue is equipped with a large table of a comfortable height, a capacity for coal storage, a removable timer and the main highlight of this Weber model - gas ignition.

Then you can prepare for baking...

First. Weber charcoal briquettes, which I am about to use, burn evenly for up to 2 hours and allow you to cook several meals at once for a large company of people.

Second. I just put the coals in the fuel tank, press the gas ignition button and go to calmly prepare the products for baking. Somewhere after 8 minutes, when the lower part of the coals has already settled, I turn off the gas supply and wait another 10 minutes for the upper coals to turn white.

I cooked the steaks on a cast iron grill with a special coating that is convenient and easy to clean. They are placed in the middle of the stainless steel GBS grill, which can be used for other accessories: frying pan, chicken roaster, pizza stone, WOK pan, etc.

We've warmed everything up and let's get started!

The GBS grill gives the steaks a great look and creates a characteristic pattern during cooking. After covering the lid, it takes only 8 minutes to cook such steaks.

True, about the lid. Many people think that the main function of the lid is to protect the dishes from bad weather conditions. Indeed, grilling under a lid is a whole new level of grilling that a basic barbecue will never reach. First, the dripping fat under the lid will never catch fire, so the food will cook but not burn. Secondly, the heat remains under the lid and the dish is cooked evenly from all sides. This allows you to cook the steak to the right temperature.

Third, using the lid allows for indirect cooking.

In my case, when the meat is almost done, I pull it off the direct heat to the side and put the vegetables in the middle. In this way, the vegetables are cooked while the meat is "resting" on the side.

A few more minutes and the stunning steak is ready!
