Bulvės švediškai. Hasselback

Potatoes in Swedish. Hasselback

Potatoes are an integral part of many barbecue dishes. This time we invite you to prepare them in a slightly different way - the way the Swedes do. Hasselback potatoes are their national dish.

Although it sounds complicated, don't hesitate to try our recipe. It is completely simple and the reason for its impressive popularity is its beautiful cut and presentation.

By the way, you can prepare Swedish potatoes not only as a side dish, but also as a separate dish. Simply add cheese, bacon and your favourite sauce to the spaces at the end of the cooking time and you will have a hearty, tasty and presentable lunch or dinner.

potatoes in a different way. Recipe

Preparation

  • Place the potato between 2 skewers/sticks/forks. Cut it crosswise into narrow slices. The skewers will prevent the potato from being cut all the way through
  • Once the potato has been sliced, add the oil/butter, finely chopped garlic and spices to the spaces between the slices.
  • Wrap in foil and place on the campfire or grill.
  • Bake for 30 min to 1h, depending on the heat and size of the potato.

  • At the end of the baking time, you can pierce the foil top and put on top of the slices some cheese or chopped bacon, drizzle with butter, pour on some sauce (optional) and sprinkle with chopped onion leaves, dill or other herbs. A potato baked in this way will be both very tasty and presentable.
  • Try other spices: rosemary, sage, cumin and other herbs go well with potatoes.
